Towthorpe is a cool climate, micro-vineyard located just outside York at 54⁰ North. We take advantage of the benefits of our location close to the River Foss to create both delicate and full flavoured wines. We believe by adopting an artisan approach we can optimise every stage of the wine making process, to bring out the best from each and every grape bunch, creating the perfect wine in the glass. We have selected a range of white and red varietals for the vineyard utilising cool climate PIWI vines such as Solaris, Rondo, and Divico. We have a small planting of Cabernet Franc which is adding variety and interest to our wines which we believe is the most northernly planting in the UK. We have also planted Bacchus, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which are responding well to the changing Yorkshire climate.
We have a select range of white and red based on our small multi-varietal planting. Each wine is hand crafted and produced individually, before careful blending of the wines produced to bring out subtle flavours and balance the wines.
